Salford-born Anita Ryan undoubtedly has one of the biggest voices in the North West and is probably one the region’s best-kept secrets too. She has a huge soulful talent that belies her 5ft 4in frame!
Her first paid performance was as a 16-year-old singer in a 40-piece gospel choir which took her across Europe on sell-out tours. A year later and Anita made the move into solo singing with the professional help of private vocal tuition from a leading teacher at Manchester’s School of Music.
Various session-singing roles around the North West and in 1999 Anita landed her first solo tour as the support act for American soul singer Edwin Starr. Anita says: “Supporting a US soul star gave me the solid training needed with live audiences. I found out early on that I could capture their emotions and keep them in the palm of my hand.
Anita’s skill was undeniable and this led to her fronting bands around the world in Europe, the Middle East. But what sets Anita apart today is her vast voice. Something her close friends have tried to describe in the past: ‘It’s like watching the frame of Kylie belt out the tunes of Aretha.
The ease with which she performs huge soulful classics, coupled with a fantastic personality, has won Anita the role of quest entertainer on various cruise liners, as headliner at high profile corporate events such as ‘millionaire balls’ in St Tropez, Cannes, Amsterdam and Germany, a regular singer and host and Manchester United Football club, and in celebrity charity events in renowned five star hotels around the world
With strong roots in live music, Anita has a breadth of experience that is only associated with the most professional of performers.
