Originally from Liverpool, jazz guitarist Sam is a Masters Degree graduate of the Guildhall School of Music in London and has many years professional touring and performing experience. At 15 he was the youngest finalist in the UK's 'Young Jazz Musician of the Year' award, and went on to study at Leeds College of Music, where he was awarded the 'Erik Kershaw Award for Plectrum Guitar.'
As a soloist, Sam has perfumed with a veritable who's who of the UK jazz scene, including Alan Barnes, Don Rendell, Jamie Cullum, and was a member of the late Mike Garrick's innovative jazz orchestra. He was the guitarist for the National Youth Jazz Orchestra (NYJO) and also toured Europe with 'The Rat Pack: Live from Las Vegas.' Sam has also performed with international artists Hermeto Pascal, Billy Cobham and Branford Marsalis. Recent recording sessions have included an album for James Bond theme composer Monty Norman, and with contemporary dance musicians 'Rodina,' as well as sessions for BBC TV and Radio. Sam recently accompanied Downton Abbey actress Michelle Dockery and actor Jonathan Pryce in concert, and earlier this year toured Australia with Grammy nominated swing pianist Judy Carmichael. Sam has performed at The Royal Albert Hall, Ronnie Scotts and the Cafe de Paris in London, The Opera Houses of Frankfurt, Oslo, Copenhagen, Stuttgart, Graz amongst others, and has performed at the London Jazz Festival, Milan Jazz Festival, and at countless other venues around Europe.
