Jay classically trained at the highly respected Italia Conti school of Speech & Drama and comes from a background of talent, her parents and brother Lance have enjoyed well established careers in all elements of entertainment over the years. Jay though become the star of the Aston family when she shot to fame as the youngest and very popular member of Bucks Fizz. Jay and the group won the Eurovision Song Contest in 1981 and went on to achieve critical acclaim with phenomenal UK and international success in Europe, Australia and Japan.

As a member of Bucks Fizz, Jay achieved four gold albums, three platinum albums, three no.1 singles and fifteen consecutive chart singles, she also played a major factor in the visual image of the group designing many of their outfits, choreography too, creating some of the groups routines.

Jay has toured nationally and internationally and has received many awards including a Eurovision award, a BPI, Nationwide Music Award, a Guinness Book of Records award to Bucks Fizz for their outstanding contribution to the music industry with 150 weeks in the British music charts and an Ivor Novello award.

She is a well respected and much sought after composer and has collaborated with many major recording artists including Marcella Detroit (Shakespears Sister), John Ilsley (Dire Straits), Richard Feldman, Underworld, Leftfield, Rupert Hine, Soundtrack for Michael Winner, Tim Holmes (Chemical Brothers) and Death in Vegas.

Collaborations with a number of DJ's have produced club successes including Serial Killer, a white label which had a big impact on the club scene and Everlasting Love from her 2003 album Alive and Well. In July 2006 Jay made her complete back catalogue available by releasing "Lamb Or Lizard" a portfolio of some personal, heartfelt compositions including standout tracks such as "Im Coming Home", "Mr X", "King of Pain" and "Suffocating Cindy".

Today Jay is regularly commissioned to create soundtracks for various projects, she is committed to live performance and touring with Cheryl & Mike.

Since leaving Bucks Fizz, Jay has taught music and the arts in various Universities and Colleges such as Guildford Academy, London Music School, Edenbridge and Sylvia Young. Jay has run her own theatre school in Hayes where she trains stars of the future in Dance, Singing and Drama.

In 2007 Jay appeared with the other original members of Bucks Fizz in the Comic Relief Video "I'm Gonna Be(500 Miles) with the Proclaimers.

In the summer of 2008 Jay once again reunited with Cheryl & Mike to appear in the Living TV show "Pop Goes The Band" during the making of the programme old wounds were healed between Cheryl and Jay and friendship between the two original members blossomed.

In 2009 much to the delight of the groups fans, Jay rejoined her former bandmates and completed a successful theatre tour.

In 2011 the band played to sell out audience at the London Palladium to celebrate 30 years since winning Eurovision.

2012 saw the band release a new album entitled Fame & Fortune comprising of new material and reworked Fizz classics.
